ABOUT US

The Foppish Dandies is an independent theatre company in Southeastern Virginia. Celebrating it’s one year anniversary with an acclaimed stage adaptation of the German expressionist 1920 film ‘The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari’, the Dandies assimilate creatives who are inspired to collaborate on experimental projects that serve the Big ‘A’ - Art.

MISSION

The primary goal of The Foppish Dandies is to provide the environment to celebrate and explore the arts together by fostering the interests of developing artists. In accomplishing this goal:

  • We will bring together, enrich the lives, and entertain people of all ages, races, income levels, and cultural interests.
  • We will serve a population residing and/or working in the entire Hampton Roads area and beyond.
  • We will manage our physical and financial resources in such a way as to maintain a positive attitude regarding fiduciary responsibility from our patrons, our donors, the vendors with whom we do business, and the community that we serve.
  • We will consistently seek new, innovative ways to build audiences
  • We will build a thriving artistic community.

VISION

We provide the tools, environment and spirit to foster a non-pretentious creative breeding ground. In doing so, we envision that:

  • Each project we send out has high production value
  • Participants will have a happy, productive experience
  • We promote the skills and abilities of our performers and designers
  • We serve the audience's imagination and curiosity
  • We inspire others and ourselves to become lifelong experimenters

STRENGTHS

We continually strive to research and learn new methods and techniques to enrich our creative arsenal and to advance the interests of the production. To facilitate such growth, we:

  • Design the posters, film trailers and print collateral for our shows
  • Market heavily through social networking sites
  • Develop audiences through press releases and a mailing list
  • Coach performers, crew and designers throughout the run
  • Genuinely serve the artistic and professional advancement of all involved
  • Support our actors and crew in their personal artistic pursuits
